w.bloggar addendum 2
If you try to edit your previous posts via w.bloggar, you will get a type mismatch error (whatever that means). If you need to edit a previous entry, you will need to use the weblog editor via the browser.

w.bloggar addendum
Looks like posting via w.bloggar has issues with line breaks as well. You will need to explicitly add

line breaks as <br>

in order to have line breaks in your blog entry.

This entry brought to you by w.bloggar!
If editing your blogs via a web browser seems wacked to you, try w.bloggar. I just installed w.bloggar 2 minutes ago and I'm already using the w.bloggar freeware tool to post this entry. It's really that easy. Here's the configuration info that you will need:

Blog Tool: Roller Weblogger
Account Alias: --anything you want--
Host: weblogs.thingsasian.com
Page: /tablogs/xmlrpc
Port: 80

Now you're ready to go! Try it out!

Weblog Editors, continued...
As I have just found out, in order to make sure that all your line breaks are observed, you will need to press

shift-enter

instead of just the enter button. Try out the other editors to see which one will work best for you... or if you stick to the simple editor, you can just focus on providing good content.

Weblog Editors
NOTE: This feature is not for the faint of heart.

When you first come into Weblog Tab->Edit, you will see your typical web based form that you fill out in order to add your weblog entry. This all works fine and dandy, but now that you are an experienced blogger, you're wondering how to format your text. For those of you who know some HTML, this shouldn't be a big deal. You can format your entry by adding HTML tags. For those who are less familiar with HTML, ThingsAsian Weblog has some editors that you can use that make the task easier. The easiest of these editors is the Ekit editor by Howard Kistler.

Go to: Website Tab->Settings. Next to the "Weblog editor page to be used", you will find a bunch of choices. Select the editor-ekit.jsp choice. Now go back to your Weblog Tab->Edit page. It may take a little time to load up, but a java applet appears and you have a more full featured HTML editor to help you compose your Weblog entries.

Flush Cache!
In general, if you have trouble viewing changes, click Weblog Tab->Flush Cache and things should look better.

Favorites Bookmarks
I've renamed the "News" Folder to "Favorites". If you're having trouble viewing the changes, you will want to go to Weblog Tab->Flush Cache.

A QuickStart Guide to Weblog features
Now that you've posted your first blog entry and are feeling good about yourself, here are some other things to try:

Change the text next to the ThingsAsian Logo.
Ever wonder why "-My Name-'s Weblog" appears twice next to the ThingsAsian Logo? It's because you haven't fully realized the power that's been given you. Go to: Website Tab->Settings. You can change the "Title of this website" and "Description of this website" to whatever you want it to be (within the limits of good taste. I'll be the judge). Save your changes and voila.

Add links to your "News" sources
Do you rely on news sources other than the NY Times and CNN? Go to the Bookmarks Tab and click on the "Edit" button by the News listing. From there you can delete the CNN and NY Times and add your own news sources. NOTE: Currently new link folders don't show up automatically. I may create a new folder for "Interesting Link" so people can compile a their list of interesting links.

Create categories for your postings
All your entries don't have to be about the same subject. You can write about something else besides "General". Go to: Website Tab->Categories. Add categories and when you post your blog entries be sure to select the category that best fits your post.
